Student Performance Highlights

Mustang Football

Burges Mustang Football is on the rise. Finishing the season with a playoff trip to Odessa and winning a Bi-District Championship, the Mustangs completed a historic season by earning 2nd in District 1-4A. Burges had its first All City Offensive MVP and District 1-4 MVP of the year: Aaron Jones and several others get all district honors. We had four student athletes selected to play in the City All-Star Game. We also had three student athletes selected Academic All State for their great work in the classroom. At Burges we work hard on the field and in the classroom. We have had student athletes get scholarships to Stanford, UCLA, Fordham, West Point, New Mexico and other schools. We are also the only school in El Paso that has two current NFL players . John Skelton is a Quarterback and his brother Stephen Skelton is a tight end for the Phoenix Cardinals. Burges is a great place to complete your high school education and with the benefits of a coaching staff that cares about you and your dreams.  2011 All City Offensive MVP , 2011, 12 all district performers, 3 all academic all state  players.

 Boys Soccer

The Burges Mustang Boys Soccer team has had a consistent history of competitiveness in a tough 4A District.  We were Bi-District Champions in 2001 and in 2009 the Mustangs were Area Champions, placing 4th in the District standings both times. The last two years, we were 5th place and missed the playoffs by one goal when the Mustangs tied against the Bowie Bears for the 4th place spot in the District standings in 2011.  As well as this year, we are knocking on the play-off door again. We were 2nd in the Socorro ISD tournament and going 1-1-1 in the Georgetown Governors Cup. Our coaches’ goal is to provide the best training possible as well as opportunities for each athlete to play at the next higher level. We have had a strong history of athletes who have been selected to the All District team along with the All City team and the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches (TASCO) All Region team over the years.  If you want a challenge and to take yourself to the next higher level, come join the Burges Mustang Soccer Team.
